About

Why  to become CCIE? Well first of all because IT networks fascinate me.

Then, because when you want to master an art perfectly you have to train and train until you become an expert. That is why I am         going through the Cisco learning track and want to be a CCIE. I took my CCNA in may 2008, become a CCNP in september 2009   and  I have started to  study for CCIE in july 2011. If you want to master an art you have to start with the theory and know it 100 %  then you have to practice and practice until you become an expert.

This blog will help me to be more organized in my training  and also to share my ideas, challenges during my journey to the CCIE.

Thanks for passing by!

/Laurent

“In order to make this plan I used MS Project. ”

    Hi Francis,

Thanks for your interest in my blog. MS Project is a program from Microsoft that is designed to help project manager to better manage a project as well as the resource assigned to the project. I will try to post an example on how I use it for the CCIE.

Good luck with your written exam.

    Thanx Laurent,
I will look into a suitable replacement in the form of a free online app. Trying to get away from MS software. I look forward to your example of Petr’s howto in MSP!

Hey great site keep up the great work!

So I especially like your idea of tracking everything in MS Project, this makes sure you’re sticking to your plan. Any chance you’d be interesting in sharing your workflow?

      Hi Jason,

Thanks for your comment! For sure I will share how I did to plan my training using MS Project. I will try to make a post on it really soon.

I have also purchased the INE labs and I like the format. I started studying in November of 2011, but I guess I’m a little more thick headed because it is not easy to retain all of the information in all of the areas. I took the lab last September but I wasn’t really ready to take it, bad planning and once within the 90-day window couldn’t change it. I feel like I have to be able to do any of there labs easily to be ready to take the lab exam again. I have no idea how long that will take. I believe the boot camps can be valuable, but the cost is too high when I consider I will probably forget what I’ve tried to learn in a short time frame. Any advice?

One good advice I could give you it to be well organised in your training strategy, I will publish really soon which strategy I have used for my training, maybe it can help you.
Once you master a topic you will not forget it, the secret is to lab and lab until you have a really deep understanding of the technology. It has also helped me a lot to blog on specific topics I was not so comfortable with but blogging is time consuming. As for the bootcamp (INE with Brian Dennis), I would highly recommend it but only once you are almost ready to go for the lab.

      Regards,
      Laurent
